Wiki's-By Cady and Shandie

To create a wiki, you can visit www.pbwiki.com, like professor Wolfgramm has done for our class page.


Once in the wiki, you can click "Create new page" to start a new page.


Enter the title of the page, like "Wiki's- By Cady and Shandie" as we have done.



First you are taken to the "Front Page" of your new wiki page. PBWiki displays helpful information, but since this will be your front page, feel free to delete the information to make your own personalized front page.


To do this, click the EDIT tab at the top of the page, and you will be taken to a page that resembles a word processing program, where you can enter text and make it bold, italic, larger size, or colored.


Once you are done editing, you can click "save" which will show you what your page will actually look like.


To edit the page again, simply click the "edit" tab at the top of the page to return to the edit screen.



Now, let's take a look at links.


To link a new page from your wiki page, simply highlight the word(s) you want to make into a link for a new page and click "links" or the icon with the world and a chain link. For example:

This will highlight the word which denotes a new page, as we have done here with "More Wiki Websites." After selecting "link" you will be prompted to specify the link type and page. It defaults to PBWorks Page, and "new page" which is what we will use for this example. Once the link is saved, simply click on the link to be taken to the new page.



You can also add plugins, which can be slideshows, videos, calendars and more.


To do this, simply click "insert plugin" at the top of the page. From here, you can choose from any of the options.


Let's add a video. I'm going to click "youtube video"


From here, it will ask you to paste in the URL from the youtube video. From there, you can preview and save. Once saved, you can drag the youtube video box to any position on your page. For this page, I have placed it at the bottom.
